We asked Scotland to answer a few questions for us. Here are his thoughtful responses.

What do you like about working for 729 Solutions?

This company truly feels like a family that has each other’s back. We all want to work together to make 729 shine, and you can really feel that in how we interact and support one another as a team.

What are your hobbies?

I like to play the guitar occasionally, and also enjoy a round of golf here and there. Nothing beats three-way cuddles with my spouse and dog, though!

What are you doing to entertain yourself during COVID-19 Stay at Home orders?

I’ve been building Metal Earth models, which has been really fun. I’m also enjoying a lot of extra playtime and cuddle time with the doggo. It’s been hard, but I’m trying to not upgrade EVERYTHING in the house.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

The Universe knows what you want, you just have to learn to get out of its way.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

To be prepared for greatness! Our team does so many amazing things every day, and we want new team members to dive in with an expectation of greatness for themselves.

Cats or dogs?

Dogs 1 million times over.

What is your favorite word in the English language?

My favorite word in the English language is “mistake,” because if you are smart, mistakes are the best teachers.

What is your favorite word in another language?

My favorite word in another language is “he’e nalu,” the Hawaiian term for surfing. It is derived from the two words meaning to walk on waves. Hele means to walk, and nalu means wave or surf.

What is the most inspiring part of your job?

I love following the process of client acquisition to project completion. I get to watch the client’s journey as we make that initial contact as a lead and then transition them to an active client. In the end, I get to see the completed project and know how 729 Solutions made a difference in the life of that client.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

I would love to have the power of flight!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Like many other kids, I was certain a professional sports career was in my future. I wanted to be either a professional golfer or a professional baseball player.

If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?

I would be Cavatappi because it’s the most fun to say.
