Tell us more!
We asked Ryan to answer a few questions for us, and here are his responses!
What do you like about working for 729?
I love the freedom to help grow a company; I’m proud of the work I’ve contributed that’s allowed us to take on more work and hire more awesome people. It’s working with the amazing people on our team that truly inspires me to keep going every day.
What are your hobbies?
Recently golf has become my biggest hobby! I’m not very good at all (yet!), but I enjoy the challenge and being able to unplug from technology when I’m out on the golf course. Closer to home, I enjoy hanging out in my backyard while barbecuing and smoking meats.
What are you doing to entertain yourself during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders?
I’ve been working hard at keeping busy. After too many years focused on technology and neglecting books, I’ve picked reading back up again during the pandemic. I’ve also been working on improving my cooking skills and learning more about the stock market. My amazing wife and I have a new home, so I’ve spent a lot of time watching her fix everything as I stand by and hand her the tools!
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
To smile and laugh every day! I’ve also learned that it’s important to always take care of your mental health as much as possible. I like to start my days by watching or listening to a short comedy sketch. They always bring a smile to my face and helps to start my day with a positive attitude.
What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?
I’d advise you to always be yourself and have an open mind. Working for 729 Solutions will challenge you, and you will be forced out of your comfort zone. I encourage embracing the phrase “controlled chaos,” and being comfortable going with the flow.
Cats or dogs?
Dogs! One day I’ll get a Basset Hound for my very own.
What is your favorite word in the English language?
My favorite word is “stellar!” It’s a word that you don’t hear used very often, and it has such a wide variety of outstanding uses.
What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
I’m inspired daily by the amazing growth of our team members. We challenge everyone each and every day by presenting them with incredibly difficult problems that are anything but typical technology situations. It’s an incredible experience to watch our 729 Solutions team come together and solve challenging problems!
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
I would love to have the power of telepathy!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a child, I thought I was destined to be a sports superstar, as either a professional soccer or baseball player.
If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?
If I were a pasta I would be ravioli, simply because it’s the best pasta out there.
Is there anything else you’d like the world to know about you?
I believe that being kind is the best thing you can do to make the world a better place.
“Being kind is the best thing you can do to make the world a better place.”
