James: Are you nervous about using chatbots on your website? You shouldn’t be. With the rise of Generative AI, consumers expect chatbots to improve. And if you wanna stay competitive, it’s time to start putting resources into chatbot enhancement.

Hello, my name is James. I’m the Studios Director at 729 Solutions, and joining me to talk about everything chatbots is Brandon Tidd, Zendesk Architect at 729.

Welcome back, Brandon.

Brandon: Happy to be here.

James: Well, according to this year’s Zendesk CX Trends Report, 70% of CX leaders believe that bots are becoming better at providing highly personalized customer journeys. This sounds like there’s a high level of optimism around chatbots and even with Generative AI in general. What are your thoughts on this, Brandon?

Brandon: Yeah. So it’s definitely optimism, but it’s cautious optimism.

If 2023 was the year of tire kicking AI, 2024 is the year of test driving AI. We are really getting to the point now where business leaders, those that are smart anyway, are really starting to take a hard look at AI and Generative AI and figure out ways that it can be introduced into the customer journey, but in safe ways with safeguards and safety rails around the edges to make sure that it doesn’t go off and hallucinate.

We’ve already heard horror stories about Generative AI selling cars for a dollar and taking… going off on tangents and giving customers less than ideal user experiences. So to me, the Generative AI starts internally, and then moves outward into the customer experience.

And over time, as models get better and as the bots get smarter and as confidence grows, we’ll start to see more and more exposure of the bots in the customer space. And Zendesk was on the leading edge of that.

James: Brandon Tidd, Zendesk Architect at 729 Solutions, where we are a full service agency providing design, development, professional services, and AI consulting. Please visit 729solutions.com to learn more about us.
