James: Are you losing customers because you’re not open about how your company is using artificial intelligence? 

Hello. My name is James, Studios Director at 729 Solutions, and joining me to talk about the need for AI transparency is Brandon Tidd, Zendesk architect at 729. 

Hello and welcome back, Brandon. 

Brandon: Good to be here.

James: AI is quickly changing how businesses operate. And with that, transparency has become a key priority. Brandon, can you talk to us more about how this is having an impact on customer experience? 

Brandon: Yeah, I think especially since the advent of GDPR and some of the privacy regulations coming out of the EU, we’re starting to see more customers focused on where their data is being shared.

And what is even more so apparent with Generative AI. Nobody wants the model to be trained on their data. And so it’s really critical that customers are cognizant of where data is being applied and where data is being shared. 

We’ve seen a lot of third party apps come up in the Zendesk marketplace that are leveraging a Generative AI component, but those may not be the best solutions for companies that have sensitive data internally because those data, in order for it to process, has to be shared. Oftentimes, it’s being shared with OpenAI, and it’s totally up and up.

But you do have to be aware of how these models work.
